Hello! I'm Katie and I'm the owner of The Treehouse. In addition to being a business owner, I am a therapist, author, speaker, and proud mom! I identify as being multiply neurodivergent and believe my unique brain is my greatest professional asset. I hold the credentials of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Registered Play Therapy Supervisor (RPT-S), Autplay Supervisor, and am an Approved Provider of Play Therapy Continuing Education, which I have been honored to do at local, state, and international levels.

Before opening the Treehouse, I had many formative experiences working in residential treatment, schools, and home-based therapy. I consider myself a prescriptive play therapist and utilize a wide range of techniques to support my clients.  I utilize play, art, and sand in the majority of the work that I do, but I specifically love Autplay and DIRFloortime. I am a strengths-based therapist and I utilize a person-centered approach, always. Although I love being a therapist to people of all ages, I spend most of my time providing supervision and training to the Treehouse team, and ensure that our clinical and administrative services are accessible to our community.

The Treehouse was originally my private practice, a small one room play therapy space on the westside of Albuquerque. After my children and I went through our community's autism services, I realized that I needed to provide more training and employment to therapists in New Mexico so that our autism community could have access to providers that supported and celebrated differences, instead of further pathologizing them. With the help of Alex Bassiri, Erica Jacoby, Stephanie Perdue, and Kelsie Bacon, The Treehouse went from a one room play space to a large agency that supports neurodivergent humans across the lifespan. When I am not at The Treehouse, you will see me in the community with my family doing our favorite things like swimming, exercising, and of course- PLAYING!
